How To Use

New/Sanded or Chemically Stripped Wood Floors

  1. Before tacking, be sure doors are locked and air movement is turned off.
  2. Sweep and vacuum all dust from floor. Do not use treated dust mops.
  3. Tack floor with Seal-O-Solv dampened turkish towels tightly wrung out. Repeat tacking until floor is dust free.
  4. Allow floor to dry until there is no sign of moisture.
  5. Apply Classic 50 Ultra using one of the applications listed below*. Work steadily, without stopping, feathering as you go until entire coat is applied.
  6. Allow seal to dry 24 hours (longer if humidity is greater than 70%). Screen entire floor with 100 grit screen until seal is uniformly dull.
  7. Tack floor by repeating steps #1-4.
  8. Apply second coat using same method as steps #5-6.
  9. Tack floor by repeating steps #1-4.
  10. Tape lines and keys for painting. Paint floors as needed and allow paint to dry.
  11. Dry screen painted area with 150 grit screen to promote seal adhesion to paint.
  12. Tack floor by repeating steps #1-4.
  13. Apply third coat using same method as in steps #5-7. Allow floor to dry minimum 24 hours.
  14. Apply a final coat using same method as steps #5-7.

Recoating Procedure for Previously Coated Floors

  1. Remove all soil. Wear non-marking soft-soled "gym" shoes. Check for wax, gum, or other substances.
  2. Screen entire floor with 100 grit screen until floor is uniformly dull. Remove any swirls with 120 grit fine screen.
  3. Before tacking, be sure doors are locked and air movement (fan) is turned off.
  4. Sweep and dry vacuum all dust from floor. Do not use treated dust mops.
  5. Tack floor with Seal-O-Solv dampened Turkish towels, tightly wrung out. Repeat tacking until floor is dust-free.
  6. Allow floor to dry completely.
  7. Apply Classic 50 Ultra using one of the applicators listed below.* Work steadily without stopping, feathering as you go until entire coat is applied.
  8. If more than one coat is desired, allow to dry 24 hours (longer if humidity is greater than 70%). Screen entire floor with 100 screen until uniformly dull.
  9. Tack floor by repeating steps #3-6.
  10. Apply second coat using the same method as in step #7. Maximum hardness is not reached for several days. Light traffic after 3 days, heavy traffic after 15 days. Do not use cleaners, except Huntolene Dust Mop Treatment for 14 days. Do not cover floor with plastic sheeting or red resin paper. Let floor cure for 30 days with good drying conditions before covering.

Usage Tips

  • Do not shake or agitate
  • Do not use on resilient asphalt or rubber tile
  • Maintenance: Sweep floor daily with Huntolene treated dust mop.
  • Avoid applying on extremely hot and humid days or when floor temperature is below 70°(21°C).
  • All old finish must be removed from a sanded or chemically stripped floor. Wear non-marking soft soled "gym" shoes.
  • Apply Classic 50 Ultra using the T-bar or lambswool block and pad in a snowplow method at the rate of 500 square feet per gallon (12 M2/L).
